New Adams Pants made it to my conference in Monterey! Shoutout to my partner who helped me hammer in the button literally right before I got in the car to leave. I got over my self-consciousness and asked my coworker to take these photos of me 😝 Mods: the pattern put me at a 10 waist and 6 hip. I did a size 10 waist graded to size 8 hip, took out 1.5” from the rise, added 2” to the length. It is still cropped so I would add more for a full length pant. There is a lot of ease which I like for a classic painter’s pant, but I think I’d cut some out of the leg if making a denim pair.

Fabric is Merchant and Mills canvas from a barter with spaghetti_western_sewing! My little socialist heart loves a good barter.

Okay, so I didn`t quite manage a no-buy month.
.
But! I held off until the very last day of the babaa sale, to make sure I really wanted the thing, and well, if I really want the thing, what`s the point of waiting another week just to spend more on said thing? Other than that though, I did it! And I still got to online window-shop, except instead of putting stuff in my cart, I added things to a list. Each time I would go to put something new on the list, I ended up deleting some of the older stuff from the list, which was exactly the effect I didn`t know I needed!

Another thing I noticed is that by the end of the month the forbidden fruit effect kicked in - since I couldn`t shop, I wanted to do it even more! So, I don`t think quitting shopping cold turkey is going to be for me after all, because I will undoubtedly go off the deep to overcompensate. So, the plan for the foreseeable future is to stick with the list and impose a minimum of a month wait on all new purchases. This strategy might just work!
