I`m a huge Babaa fan—their quality, color choice, and designs are just absolutely top notch. I saw their beautiful #babaavestno24 on hannahlouiseposton and really fell in love with the drape, armhole shaping and versatility of a cotton vest. When I stumbled upon it they were having their annual sale and it was $175 instead of the normal $235, and I thought, " I could treat myself to this....or I could challenge myself to make my one", and I think you can see what I chose to do! Or can you? 😜 See the last slide for the inspo! I asked y`all what knitting pattern would be a great dupe for the Babaa vest, and luckily amarjmakes responded and told me about her pattern, #quinceveer that she`d just published for quinceandco. It is perfect, and actually solved a couple of construction concerns that I had looking at the Babaa, namely the pulling of the stitches between the armholes and at the very deep center of the v neck. The Veer pattern is written for a much lighter weight yarn, so after 4 swatches, and one failed attempt after casting on and knitting the whole ribbing, I finally figured out the right sizing for my sweater. ALSO the Babaa is ONE SIZE. Yeah. How is anyone supposed to know how/if a one size garment will work for them? I didn`t want to even risk that and now mine fits exactly the way I wanted.

Yarn: Shiny Happy Cotton by woolandthegang in Cinder Black
Cost: $58! $8 for the pattern, and $50 for the yarn which included all of the swatches I made
Sizing and mods: I made the pattern`s smallest size (the 39), reduced the torso length by 1", and for all of the ribbing at the hem, nechole, and armhole I did a twisted rib for a crisper look and less stretch as cotton doesn`t have much recovery like wool does.
