behind our spring campaign

I grew up in the mountains. Every weekend and every summer was spent in the mountains outside of Madrid with my family, grandparents, and friends. First swims, first bicycle rides, first hikes. Mountains are FREEDOM to me.
The best memories were summers when all the families would meet very early in the morning and hike to the top of any mountain. Every weekend was a different one: a new picnic, a new adventure, a new challenge. All together but so on your own: with your own body, mind and possibilities.
Then came that age when hiking was done with friends, friends who would say “we’ll pick you up in an hour” and that was that. Sometimes we would stay the night with a fire, under the stars. I loved the feeling of just getting my toothbrush and being SO READY.
When Sam and I got together, I started to bring him when we’d visit Madrid. Eventually we moved back to Spain, and now we bring our children every weekend. We have found our very own favourite spots. A
small hike, lots of stone gathering, paddle in the creek, picnic by the van, eagle watching.
For babaa’s Spring campaign we decided to invite the model and sustainability advocate, Vivien Solari, and her friend the brilliant photographer Agata Popieszysca to the mountains to visit our favorite spots. Together, with a great team, we collectively breathed in the mountain air, explored, and created in a place that feels like home to me.
This campaign was inspired by one of my favorite poems, by e.e. cummings:
Spring is like a perhaps hand
(which comes carefully
out of Nowhere)arranging
a window ,into which people look (while
people stare
arranging and changing placing
carefully there a strange
thing and a known thing here) and
changing everything carefully
